Union 67 Scraper Plane

When confronted with the most difficult grains and woods the scraper plane is the ultimate weapon. Union’s 67 Scraper Plane was designed by tool making legend Paul Hamler and bears the HT (Hamler Tools) mark on the casting in tribute.

The 67 scraper plane is a 5 1/2 inch long scraper plane, with a 1 3/8 inch cutter. Sharpen with a burr for general smoothing or without for ultra fine work such as marquetry Proudly manufactured by Union Manufacturing Company, PA, USA.

Classic Gray Iron
Many modern manufacturers have switched to ductile iron for ease of manufactur. But anyone who has regularly handled a ductile plane knows how easy they rust and tarnish. The classic gray iron of the 67 will patinate gracefully as a fine classic tool should.
Spring Loaded Adjuster
The spring loaded adjuster of the 67 allows more accurate finer adjustment than any other small scraper plane.

Micro Adjustable Mouth
With a fixed frog how do you adjust the mouth for heavy or fine work? By adjusting the mouth! The only bevel down plane on the market with an adjustable mouth. In true union style, the mouth adjustment is micro adjustable with a 32tpi screw. No more trying to awkwardly reach frog screws around the tote. Just easy, straightforward, mouth adjustment.

Classic Mahogany
Just like our X-Planes, the 67 comes with solid Mahogany hardware. A timeless wood with unparalled comfort in the hand.

5 1/2 inch length
The 67 can sneak in to deal with localized tearout in tight spots. Small enough for 1 handed work, comfortable for 2.

Union Thick Irons
An extra layer of defence against chatter. Union Irons are .116 thick, roughly 50% thicker than classic plane irons. The thicker the iron, the harder it is to vibrate, the smoother the cut. Union Irons are class O2 tool steel. Quick to sharpen to a razor keen edge.
